Visiting Clovelly is an unforgettable experience loved by children and folk of all ages. But be prepared to bring sensible footwear for the descent on cobble stones can be slippery. The unfit and elderly would be advised to take the local taxi service - donkeys, or the Land Rover to the harbour.

The adventurous should seek out signs for the Hobby Drive Walk. This was laid out between 1811-29 by Sir James Hamlyn Williams as a celebration of nature and Clovelly’s magnificent location amidst woodland. One of the schemes that came to mirror the Romantic Movement of the early C19. The pathway was designed to accommodate carriages and it features four gently curving bridges. The panoramic views peer down on Clovelly and westwards toward Lundy and West Wales. They are unforgettable. A number of caves appear formerly used to stope the C19 smuggler’s contraband.
