St Piran’s Crossing

St Piran is the Patron Saint of Tin Miners, and the National Saint of Cornwall.

All of this week, 5-11th May there are celebrations commemorating the 100th Saint-Piran’s Crossing. A great sculpture has been built at Trenoweth Quarry. Yesterday, Saturday, it was transported from Trenoweth behind a Steam Engine, The Wingham,  to Falmouth where it will be boarded onto the French boat, La Nebuleuse at Custom House Quay, today for transportation to Paimpol, en Bretagne.

Breton Dancing took place and all was merriment and good cheer.  Cornish ales and cider could be purchased from The Front and The Chain Locker public houses.
