Toff Milway has a distinctive style. His speciality is stoneware pots that have been salt glazed. Dishes with elaborate natural world images and pots with figurative sculptures. He also produces a range for the garden.

This little gallery (across two floors) has been stimulating Bath’s citizens since the year 2,000. With a full range of painters’ work, sculptures and ceramics. Indeed, the City of Bath has been the subject matter of much of the work on display, from the Rugby ground to the minutae of street life.

Iona has a full range of paintings, sculpture, ceramics, glass and woodwork, jewellery and prints. The difference with this gallery is that because its a kind of co-operative the pricing of the artwork on display is exceptional value for money. Sometimes a third of what you would expect to pay in another gallery.

Jack Russell Gallery, 41 High Street, CHIPPING SODBURY BS37 6BA

Jack was Gloucestershire’s and England’s wicketkeeper, and (saviour) batsmen for many years in the late 1980s and 90s. He started painting cricket scenes in the West Indies in 1990 and has since built an international reputation. His paintings cover diverse subjects; cricket, landscape, the legal profession, portraits and wildlife. Originals and prints for sale.

By the time you arrive here you may well believe you are stuck in a time warp. Indeed, this business is set within the old Village Workhouse overlooking the beautiful churchyard. For all connoisseurs of ceramics this gallery will be a real find. It holds an unusual achival collection of Studio and Country Slipware from the C19 and C20. This exhibition features studio pottery from Britain and Japan, and includes the work of a number of potters: Bernard Leach, Michael Cardew, Ray Finch, Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie, William Marshall, Hamada Shoji and Ken Matsuzaki.

They claim to be the centre for contemporary crafts in the Cotswolds. No doubt because they manage too get grants from the Arts Council. There are some 150+ British maker’s work on display. There is an Exhibition area, as well as studios for glass, ceramics, textiles and furniture. Workshops and courses are run for all. Good cafe, and the cream on the cake is some stylish accommodation at The Barrel Store; 14 rooms for up to 43 guests.
